The mission of the Bereavement Ministry is to assist with funerals being held in church. The family of the deceased initially meets with the priest to make the arrangements. The ministry coordinator then learns the needs of the family concerning the Visitation and Funeral Mass. One or two ministry team members are called upon to be available on the day of the funeral to prepare the church to receive the family of the deceased and to stand ready to assist them, the priest or the deacon in any way during the Visitation and Mass. Once the Mass has ended and all have left the church we make sure everything has been returned to the proper places. By taking care of these simple details the members of the Bereavement Ministry are doing our part in comforting those who mourn. (Matthew 5:4) For more information, contact Becky Steppe.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word is designed to give the word of the Lord to children in a fun and enjoyable way. Open to all preschool to elementary age children attending the 11 am Mass. Prior to the Liturgy of the Word, children are escorted to the Melancon Center where they will experience the Gospel with age-appropriate tools. The children return to Church after the homily.
