Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our Hurricane Harvey relief efforts! Thank you to everyone who donated items, sorted and packaged items, and loaded the trucks.  Thank you to everyone who traveled to Texas in order to unload six 18 wheeler trucks of relief items! Thank you to Bergeron Freight ( Troy Bergeron) for donating four 18 wheelers and for TCI ( Louis Rodriguez) for donating two 18 wheelers!  Thank you Hotard Coaches ( Callen Hotard) for donating a 55 passenger bus to transport volunteers to Texas! Thank you to the JPSO ( Sheriff Joe Lopinto and Col. Robert Woods) for providing police escorts!  Thank you to Canseco's Grocery ( Sinesio Canseco) for allowing us to use their forklift for two weeks! Thank you to La Louisiane and Jimmy John's for providing breakfast, lunch and dinner for volunteers!  Thank you to everyone who donated pallets, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.   Thank you to everyone who made financial donations! SCS has collected over $87,000 so far!  There were so many people who helped in so many ways that it is impossible to thank everyone!

The collection is done! We filled six 18-wheelers and over $81,000.  We will be delivering all of these goods collected on Saturday, September 9.   We will stop in Beaumont first to deliver 3 trucks and then head to Houston with the other three trucks.   We are meeting at SCS at 4:30 am on Saturday, September 9. We have secured two donated buses to transport us to Texas. If you would like to join us, call Fr. Tim at the Parish office 504-835-9343 ext 502. It will be an all day trip. Food will be provided.  Deadline to sign up for the bus is noon.

Update:  So far, three 18-wheeler trucks have been filled and $72,500 has been donated.  We will resume collecting relief items and finacial donations on Tuesday, September 5 through Thursday, September 7 from 8:30 am until 6:00 pm.  

We plan on delivering the supplies on Saturday, September 9.   Stay tuned for details about the delivery time and location.

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church will be helping the people affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. To assist in loading the 18 wheeler, please ONLY send items in BULK / PRE-PACKAGED items (Consider buying in bulk from Sam’s, Costco, Walmart, etc.). We are collecting the following items:

• Cases of Bottled Water, Powerade, Gatorade
• Baby Items (Diapers, Wipes, Formula, Food, Bottles, Powder, etc.)
• Adult Diapers
• Non-perishable dry goods and canned goods
• Bleach, Lysol, Clorox Wipes, etc.
• Mops, Brooms, Buckets, etc.
• Contractor Bags, gloves, surgical masks, etc.
• Soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, razors, floss, feminine products, deodorant, etc.
• Paper Towels, Kleenex, Toilet paper, etc.
• Dog and Cat food
• Flash lights and batteries
• New Pillows, new sheets, new towels, and air mattresses
• Tarps
• Duct tape 
• Plastic storage bins
• Folding chairs
• Boxes and Packing tape
• Bug Spray 
• Giftcards (Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.)
• Big box fans, wet vacs, air movers, etc.

NOTE: We are NOT ACCEPTING clothes, books, or toys.

Please drop off these items between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm on the following days:  

Tuesday, August 29 until Thursday, August 31

Tuesday, September 5 until Thursday, September 7

Anyone wishing to make a financial donation, can either mail it to St. Catherine of Siena (105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, LA 70005) with the memo “Hurricane Relief” or mail it to the Archdiocese of New Orleans (Attn: Archbishop Aymond, 7887 Walmsley Ave, New Orleans, LA 70125) with the memo “Hurricane Relief”.
