The St. Catherine of Siena Dance Team, the Gatorettes, is a highly talented and competitive Jr. High dance team, grades 5-7. The dance coach must be a leader, mentor, and role model for these competitive young dancers. The coach must be able to choreographph, teach, and clean Gatorette dance routines. The coach should typically have dance team experience themselves, as well as many years of extensive studio dance training. They should have a strong background in the performing arts, including experience in hip hop, jazz, high kick, and pom.
The Gatorette coach must be capable of teaching Gatorettes dance and stretch technique while demonstrating compassion and concern for the academic, mental, and physical well-being of these students. The coach must always maintain a fun and motivating dance environment.
The Gatorette coach is a year round position. One must be able to practice two days a week (2 hours each), as well as some longer Saturday/Holiday practices during competition season. Attendance at SCS school function performances, dance camp and competitions is required.
In addition to choreographing and teaching routines, the dance coach must monitor the progress of the Gatorettes, communicating with the individual members in a positive and encouraging way. Additionally, the coach must communicate with Gatorette parents via email with all Gatorette information. The coach needs to be capable of following a budget. The Gatorette Coach must also be able to maintain a professional image as a representative of St. Catherine of Siena. One must be compliant with rules and regulations set forth by the school.
