October 18, 2024, was a special day for St. Catherine of Siena Parish! We blessed the property where the new parish center will be located and officially broke ground on the parish center.
This project began 3 years ago when St. Catherine of Siena underwent a pastoral planning process. We wanted to get feedback on the direction of the parish. We wanted to get feedback about where parishioners felt the LORD was calling us to go as a parish. Over 1,000 parishioners participated in the survey and that feedback was given to 50 parish leaders who went on a two day retreat at Manresa.
We prayed about and discerned where God was leading us as a parish. In 2022, we announced our 5 year pastoral plan. Two of those goals are being addressed in this campaign: more meeting spaces on campus and more parking spaces.
Why was this needed? In 2014, SCS had 35 groups / ministries on campus. In 2024, SCS now has over 70 groups on campus, but the same 4 parish meeting rooms. There is a huge need for more spaces for groups to meet and more legal parking spaces.
After years of planning and preparing, it was with great joy that we kicked off the Forward in Faith Capital Campaign with three phases:
PHASE 1: Build a convent for our new Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia. One year ago, we broke ground on the convent and it was completed this past July. We are blessed to have the sisters at SCS. PHASE 2: to build the new parish center (December 2025) PHASE 3: to build the new 50 car parking lot (Summer 2026)
